Although for the caliber indicated, this rifle is believed to be by far the most powerful self-contained air rifle in existence; the rifle’s unique design renders it quite easy to operate. Either of my two daughters-in-law, at less than 120 lbs each, has no difficulty charging the rifle. The construction specifications indicated on this website were followed for Q-5. However, I have chosen Hawaiian koa over walnut for the rifle stock and forearm grip. This wood is unique to the Hawaiian Islands and exhibits the stability and weight of walnut but with much finer grain definition and overall appearance. There are many fine and handsome woods available, some very unique to an individual country. Should any of our clients desire that the stock and forearm grip to be fashioned from their country’s unique hardwood, please contact Nibecker ARMS.
A few words concerning Power:
Nibecker ARMS produces the most powerful self-contained air rifle in the world. ‘Self contained’ signifies that the rifle needs no external power source to achieve its rated power output (compressor, SCUBA tank, hand pump, bottled gas/liquid, and ignition of lubricant or propellant). There are pre-charged air rifles in .22 caliber that, when charged to 4,000 psig, exhibit power close to a Quigley. These often are fine rifles and are fun when the hunt is limited to a few shots or the hunter stays close to the compressor. However, unless you are unusually strong, the idea of carrying a SCUBA tank along on an extended hunt may prove cumbersome.
We produce primarily .22 caliber rifles as this caliber has a wide range of available pellet types and can absorb efficiently the power output of the rifle without excessive pump strokes. A .25 caliber rifle is also available on request. We try to keep our exit velocity between 865-965 feet/second as velocities at this point produce good long-range trajectories with pellets of relatively high mass (21.1 grain @ 865 and 16.7 grain @ 955).
